National seminar on Ayurveda is a two day program has been inaugurated on 22nd August, 2014 this day is having historical importance being the 375th birthday of Chennai. Seminar contains eight sessions in total. Each session was shared by renowned practitioners from various parts of India.

The guest speaker of the First session was Dr.P.Muralikrishna, Reader, PG Department of Panchakarma, S.V. Ayurveda College, Tirupati, has shared his clinical experiences on Ayurvedic management in allergic respiratory disorders. He has enlightened three most common allergic respiratory disorders pratisyaya, kasa and swasa. A detailed explanation was given on understanding allergic response at immunity level and co-related dosha, dusya, sammurchana with free radical theory. Research findings on the role of Herbs, Massage and Yoga in allergic disorders their treatment principles were explained in a very scientific manner.

Dr.Ravishankar Parvaje, MS (Ayu) Susruta Ayurveda Hospital, bolwar, Puttur was the guest speaker of second session who gave a descriptive and practical demonstration on management of acute stroke by Ayurveda. His lecture gave confidence in all the delegates that Ayurveda principles can be adopted in emergency conditions like acute paralytic attacks.

Third session was on management of Hridroga in Ayurveda engaged by Vaidya.G.Sambamurthy, who shared the ways to implement the clinical text knowledge in practical cases to find out an easy comprehensive, cost effective totalistic solution to this burning problem without surgery. He mainly emphasized that Samprapti of CAD can be taken either as Gulma samprapti or as Rasavaha srotho dusti and Chikitsa should be always in accordance with Samprapti.

Guest speaker of Session four Dr. C.M. Sreekrishnan, Director, Dhanvantari Institute of Dermatology, Thrissur spoke on Ayurvedic approach in management of skin disease. He explained that main management principle in skin disease is Srotho Shodhana and dosha samana. He stressed upon multilevel application of management methodology targeting cleaning all the srothas, stimulating Trayodasa agnis and enhancing organ function, thus motivating micro level metabolism helping in treating the skin diseases. More over his evidence based presentation was so informative.

Dr. B.S. Prasad MD Ayurveda, Principal, KLEU, Sri BMK Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Belgaum shared his experiences on understanding male infertility in session five. He explained management of male infertility should be in lines of Sukradosas explained by our Acharyas and emphasized how we can utilize the modern diagnostic parameters in co-relating Sukra doshas.  He gave rationality in prescribing in conditions of male infertility and explained specific drugs to treat abnormalities in liquefaction time, volume viscosity colour and PH of semen.

Guest speaker of session six is Dr. J.L.N. Sastry on management of chronic kidney disease. He shared his clinical trial on grade 1 to 3 chronic renal failure. He presented that the Oral administration of Bhumyamalaki aqueous extract for 2 to 5 years supported by Guduchi satva can effectively manage the condition. Total reports related to 17 patients were presented; none of them required dialysis during the period of treatment. However he sincerely accepted that Sadhyasadhyata should be taken into consideration in treating chronic kidney diseases.

Dr. M.R. Vasudeva Nampoothri MD (Ayu), Principal, Amrutha School of Ayurveda, Kollam shared his views on need and significance of Ayurveda diagnosis in session seven. Sir has given a detailed explanation of various case reports, symptometology on modern parameters basing on various diagnostic techniques. He enlightened how one can co-relate those symptometology in Ayurveda parameters. He enumerated that two diseases may have same treatment methods same Purvarupa, but no two diseases have same Lakshana. So Lakshanas have got prime importance in Ayurveda and treatment should be in accordance with it.

Eighth session was honored by the lecture of Dr. K.M. Madhu, Senior Physician, Vaidyaratnam P.S.Varier’s Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakal on Cancer care in Ayurveda. He shared his clinical experiences on various conditions like CA rectum, Chondrasarcoma with lung metastasis, CA prostate, CA gastro oesophageal junction and emphasized how effectively those conditions were managed with pure Ayurveda line of treatments. He has stressed that sometimes we may need to depend upon modern system for the management of emergencies that develop during the treatment course. He quoted that with Ayurveda treatment the quality and longevity of life can be improved in most of the Carcinomatous conditions.
