World Sight Day World sight day was commemorated in Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College and Hospital on 13thOctober 2022. World sight day is a reminder to love your eyes. With this year’s theme being “LOVE YOUR EYES”, an awareness programme and a one-day free Eye camp was organised in the institution, jointly by the NSSUNIT III of Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Viswa Maha vidyalaya, Dept. Of Shalakya Tantra of Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College and Hospital and Sankara eye hospital, Pammal. The day started with an awareness event as a formal event consisting of lighting of lamp by Dr. Kalyan Kumar (Senior optometrist, Sankara eye hospital, Pammal), Dr. Pradeep Kumar Moharana sir, Dr. Suvendu Rout sir, Dr. Swathi madam and Dr. Indusree madam followed by welcome address delivered by S. Akshaya, an awareness talk on the importance of eyes and tips to protect them by G. Sri Vidya, Vote of Thanks by S. Preethi and overall anchoring by Kavya Sankaranarayanan of Final year. The staff speech was given by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Moharana sir, where he highlighted the importance of eyes and the value that has been attributed to it in ayurveda. After, the formal awareness event, the one day free eye camp was started, where the highly equipped and skilled team from Sankara eye hospital, headed by Dr. Kalyan Kumar_ Senior optometrist along with the intern and final year volunteers from Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College and Hospital, checked the eyes of nearly 150 patients within the stipulated camp duration from10am-2pm. The doctors provided valuable advice and referrals to the patients. The senior doctor also explained the final year students about the various conditions that bother the eye like Cataract, Pterygium, Glaucoma etc with utmost love and patience. With the message “LOVE YOUR EYES “the camp was closed.

PILES AWARENESS PROGRAMME
We have conducted piles awareness programme on 21.10.2022 in the department of Shalya Tantra. We screened some patients. And also we educated the patients about piles and treatment modalities available in our college Hospital. Benefits: – All Internees and post graduate students well trained in examination of patients and doing Para surgical procedures. Outcome: – Patients and public got awareness about the palliative treatment for piles and also anorectal diseases

Awareness session against DRUG ABUSE A campaign session was organised jointly by the Nazarathpet police station and Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College and Hospital on DRUG ABUSE on 13thDecember 2022 to spread awareness and to eradicate drug abuse among youth. In the premises of Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College and Hospital, the students of the Ayurveda College were engaged in an awareness programme by the Nazarathpet police officers on drug abuse. The talk on drug abuse was given by Mrs. Rani, Sub-inspector of police, Nazarathpet. The students were given heightened awareness. At the end of the session, the students took the message that drugs is a dirty business to their mind and hearts and pledged to spread message against drug abuse far and wide. In this campaign, the students of Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College and Hospital will continue to spread the message of awareness and will motivate the youth in different age groups to stay away from drugs. Drug abuse is of no USE!!!! WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY
On 24th March 2023, World Tuberculosis Day was organized at Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College And Hospital conducted by Swasthavritta Department, NSS Unit III, SCSVMV and Event Committee of SJSACH .Theprogramme was held in Mahaswami Mandapam at 2.30pm .The event began with prayer song by Sreelikhitha and Saipriya of First Professional BAMS. Chief guest was Dr. Renjith Robert , District Medical Officer from District Tuberculosis Centre, Poonamallee. Welcome address was given by Dr. Guruprasad, Professor and HOD, Department of Swasthavritta. Key note address given by Dr. Bindu .V, Assistant Professor, Department of Swasthavritta. Followed with Tuberculosis Awareness talk by Dr. Renjith Robert, who was assisted by Mr. Arun, Health Educator from District Tuberculosis center. Thereafter Dr.ChittaranjanDas,The Principal of SJSACH felicitated the Chief guest , Dr.Renjith Robert. Dr.Praveen B.S, The Vice Principal of SJSACH felicitated Mr.Arun.The session was very informative and fruitful both for the students and staffs of SJSACH. The event was concluded with Vote of thanks by Dr.Sreelakshmi.K, Assistant Professor, Department of Rasasastra And Bhaishajyakalpana.

WORLD HEPATITIS DAY
World Hepatitis Day (WHD) takes place every year on 28 July in memory of Dr. Baruch Blumberg, who discovered the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine. It is celebrated to bring the world together under a single theme to raise awareness of the global burden of viral Hepatitis and to cut down the chain of transmission. In 2023 the theme of WHD is “ONE LIFE ONE LIVER”.This event was successfully organized by the NSS unit III of SCSVMV on July 28, 2023. Under the guidance of NSS program officer Dr. Vijay Shankar M R andDr. Karthika R Nair, PG Scholars Dr.C.Muthunagai and Dr.C.Kiruthikaa team of 20 NSS Volunteers of Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurvedic College and Hospital contributed in spreading the awareness on hepatitis and importance of prevention, control and proper management of liver disorders, especially hepatitis in Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Keelmanampeedu and VeellaveeduPanchayath. This awareness camp was inaugurated by Mrs. Janaki(Principal Govt (G)HSS, Keelmanampedu) at 10 am at the school assembly hall Govt (G)HSS, Keelmanampedu.Dr.C.Kiruthika conducted sessions on the importance of celebrating World Hepatitis Day and Dr.C.Muthunagai dealt with causes, signs and symptoms, and prevention, to the public for awareness. Followed by this informative session on liver health was dealt by Dr. Vijay Shankar M.R. and Dr.Karthika R Nair to staff and students of Govt (G)HSS, KeelmanampeduWe pledge to undertake sincere efforts to provide leadership in the fight against Hepatitisfor the betterment of our community. After the session, pamphletsonHepatitisawareness were hand overed to Mrs. Janaki by Dr. Vijay Shankar M. Rfor the Staff. NSSvolunteerscirculated pamphlets tostudents,nearbyresidencies, and shops.With the active participation of students, pamphlets were circulated door to door after the school session. After school session awareness class was organized for public and panchayath workers in Vellavedu Panchayath, session was inaugurated by Mr. Victor (Health inspector) by 12 am. NSS volunteers conducted sessions on prevention and management of Hepatitis and Dr. Karthika and Dr. Vijay Shankar conducts class onayurvedic management in Hepatitis and Liver disorders. The awareness program turned out to be an opportunity to the public to create knowledge about the prevention of Hepatitis and gave an insight on importance of liver protection. The program ends up by 1.30 pm.The immense cooperation and combined effort of the volunteers, and doctors there was a greater response from the public and this made the event more beneficial and successful.

MADANAPHALA COLLECTION
As part of the academic activity, a field trip was organised by the Department of Panchakarma, Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College and Hospital, Nazarathpet on 12th July, 2023 for the collection of Madanaphala. Our faculty members Dr. Reshma Ramakrishnan, Assistant Professor, Dr. Jeniffer Ponsingh, Assistant Professor, Department of Panchakarma and Dr. Nisha Raj(Green Cell Team Member), Associate Professor, Department of Dravya Guna and PG Scholars – Dr. C. Muthunagai, Dr. Prajna Paramita, Dr. Abirami D, Dr. Diwas Kumar Sethi, Dr. Yogita Ahlawat from the Department of Panchakarmahad participated in the activity. We started our trip from SJSACH at around 09:40 am and reached our destination at around 11am. First, we visited a forest area located at Tiruvadisoolam, Chengalpat District, guided by a local Irula tribe. He led us to the forest and helped in locating and identifying Madanaphala plants. Matured and ideal Madanaphala fruits were procured. Total collected fruits weighed6kg approximately. Other medicinal herbs such as Langali, Sharapunkha, GokshuraandSwarnapatri were also identified and saplings were collected

NUTRITION AWARENESS-
Nutrition Awareness Program was held on October 12th 2023 at AnganvaadiNazarathpettai at 11:30 am. The main aim of the program was to spread awareness regarding the importance of nutrition for the body. Apples, bananas, mosambi, and dates were distributed to 30 kids in the Anganvaadi. The event included a speech of spreading awareness about nutrition and all the nss volunteers actively participated in it. The chief guest of this program Mrs. Panchayan Perumal shared her views on nutrition week. The parents & teachers present were also a part of this event. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vijay Shankar. Overall, it was a successful event.

DIET AND LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT AWARENESS On the eve of 8th National Ayurveda Day celebration 2023, Department of Swasthavritta, Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ayurveda College And Hospital, Department of Ayurveda of SCSVMV organised an awareness talk on ” Diet And Lifestyle Management” at OPD of SJSACH by Dr. Bindu. V, Assistant professor, Department of Swasthavritta. The patients were briefed about how to adopt a healthy diet and lifestyle as a part of their daily routine in order to prevent the diseases and to boost their immunity. Various breathing exercises were demonstrated by the UG students of 3rd profession, which might help the people to reduce their mental stress and to have a better sleep. The overall session was found fruitful for the patients.

On behalf of the National Ayurveda Day Celebration, an awareness session was organized for the OPD patients on the topic of Prameha (Diabetic mellitus) – etiology,symptoms for early detection, preventive and curative food and lifestyle changes in Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda College and Hospital, Nazarathpet,Chennai on 2nd November 2023 11- 12 am at OPD Block By Dr. Karthika R Nair,Assistant Professor Department of Roganidan and Vikriti Vigyan,Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda Collegeand Hospital. The session was organized with the help of interns and 3rd-year students in collaboration with the Department of Swasthavritta. The program was conducted successfully and wellappreciated by the patients.

On the occasion of Ayurveda day, the department of PTSR SJSACH Nazarathpet Chennai has conducted an awareness program for the patients who attended the OPD on the topic of PCOS on 4/11/23between 12 and 12.30 p.m. Under the guidance of the HOD Dept. of PTSR DR. L V Ratnakar, PG final year student DR. Gulnar Mariam delivered the talk on PCOS. PG Second year student DR. Khushbu kashyap was also present on the occasion.

NATIONAL YOUTH DAY On the National youth day 12th January 2024 Swachh Bharat activities were conducted at our campus Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda College & Hospital at 4:00pm in connection with National Youth day.
