Dhanwanthri jayanthi was celebrated on 17/10/2017. It is considered to be the National Ayurveda day, as declared by the Govt. of India. 17/10/2017 was the second National Ayurveda Day, the first being 28 Oct 2016. This year, the event was observed by a homam in our auditorium, followed by recitation of vishnusahasranamastotram followed by dhanwanthrisuthuthi. This was followed by chanting of selected portions of Ashtangahrdayam, Sutrasthanam. Further, we took part in the live interaction initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing the general public and Ayurvedic colleges shortlisted by the CCIM to be a part of this live event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi insisted true learning of Ayurveda and spoke about the importance of ayurveda. He said that all ayurvedic hospitals infrastructure should be improved and added that in future, all taluks should have ayurvedic physicians. He spoke with special emphasis on the steps that should be taken to eradicate filariasis.
